Subsidence Surveyor/Engineer – South East

About the role:

Our Subsidence Surveyors/Engineers support our in-house subsidence and building team, as well as our Property Adjusters across a mixed portfolio of material damage and subsidence claims, some of which will be high value and complex in nature.

You’ll be home based and attending site visits covering the South Coast and South East region. Naturally, core and contacted hours are expected, but we’re flexible on how you manage your time and allocated claims within your region.

What you’ll be doing:

• Handle a mixed portfolio of subsidence building claims and provide technical guidance support on commercial building losses to Adjusters when required.
• Undertake initial investigation and projecting building re-instatement costs to enable reserves to be set
• Provide technical reports to adjusters on building defects and policy cover
• Manage own portfolio of specialist claims including subsidence and building warranty work.
• Communicating regularly with all interested parties, calculating and approving interim payments, preparing interim reports and other communication.
• Calculating and agreeing settlement of claims and preparing specialist aspects of reports or final reports

Who we’re looking for:

• Strong technical subsidence experience, ideally gained through working in the insurance / loss adjusting sector or similar
• Ideally educated to degree level – BSc Hons in Civil or Structural Engineering and/or professional Engineering/Surveying/Building qualification – MICE/MIStructE/MCIOB/MRICS or equivalent
• Experience of handling a variety of subsidence, fire, flood, impact damage and other large building claims
• Customer and quality focused, always providing excellent standard of service to ensure client service and quality standards are met
• Complex analysis and decision-making skills
• Handle and co-ordinate complaints and compliments
• Achievement of own performance targets
• Competent use of technology
